About the author

The author is just another obsessive compulsive hacker (the good kind) who when confronted with anything new can't help but wonder "how'd they do that?!?"

By day, I'm the Software Architect for CBMC; by night, I just try to "keep the clients happy" as Director of Technology for sdgInteractive.

Employment History

CBMC, Inc.

Software Architect

  • Responsible for the architecture and implementation of all CBMC web properties including the staff extranet, four primary public web properties (cbmc.com, operationtimothy.com, forums.cbmc.com and media.cbmc.com) as well as local city CMS system.
  • Implemented and heavily customized a CMS system based on a single database and codebase to support the ability to quickly and efficiently provision new websites to support local area staff and allow local resources to manage content. Also responsible for the training and support of the designated local resource who serve as content owners
  • Implemented an ASP.NET based extranet with an SQL Server backend that relies heavily on Crystal Reports for content presentation. Also implemented the data tier to support this data largely based T-SQL stored procedures
  • Architected and coded an extensive business layer for exposing and vertically integrating many back office functions to allow for heavy code re-use for common functionality such as online donation, event registrations, e-commerce and media distribution. A core tenant of these systems is an extreme aversion to tight coupling that allowed for a separating of concerns from these back end functions and their web interfaces which allows for agility in updating back office procedures with a minimum of disruption to the consuming applications.
  • Responsible for the implementation and customization of the Microsoft CRM. Also responsible for architecting the mechanism for both exposing CRM based content to other applications as well as the ability to push data back into CRM as a common repository.

This functionality included the implementation of a dynamic mapping and distance search engine based on a SQL Server backend. This solution provided a user friendly solution across the enterprise for functionality previously limited to specific employees based on expensive per seat licenses.
